I started my work on the book almost ten years ago. I felt that the below expanded Prologue would allow the reader to understand better what I see going on in the world today and provide some personal history, I'm reluctant to ask for financial assistance, but I had no choice. I’ve accumulated significant debt, but it’s been out of my control for reasons that I’ll not detail, other than saying when confronted with the choice of focusing my energies and finances on my children, I chose the child who is not neuro-typical. My oldest son John, whose birthday was yesterday, has Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) and Mood Disorder – NOS. His ASD was diagnosed in 2002 at age 4 ½ by Texas Children’s Hospital in Houston, TX. He has a 66 IQ, the emotional maturity of a 12 to 13-year-old, and he’s the sweetest and most polite young man any parent could ever wish for. He struggles with his Expressive and Receptive Language to the point when he’s upset; he becomes self-injurious; therefore, he can’t be left alone for extended periods. Unfortunately, for one reason or another, John hasn’t been able to receive Medicaid Waiver Services for the developmentally disabled which is guaranteed by the State of New York. He was approved for these services in February 2018 and I’ve been homebound with him since October 2018, when he hospitalized a the second time for his Mood Disorder.
In Luke 12:57-59, titled Settlement with an Opponent, Christ said;
57“Why do you not judge for yourselves what is right? 58If you are to go with your opponent before a magistrate, make an effort to settle the matter on the way; otherwise, your opponent will turn you over to the judge, and the judge hand you over to the constable, and the constable throw you into prison. 59I say to you; you will not be released until you have paid the last penny.”
I take the words of advice from Christ quite seriously about getting your debt settled before a court date and I'd like to settle it in the form of an advance for my book. My goal is to pay my debt paid in full, my children’s needs, and my needs. I must raise about $110,000 as quickly as possible, most of it this month, or we'll face eviction for rent in arrears along with an IRS lien and other needs. I need to raise anything that I can today. I know that it's very short notice. I took out a collateralized loan for $13,000 in October 2020 which we've been living on. I wanted to get a four month extension on the loan for $4,115 (to pay the interest amount) so I could pay it off by that time. The collateral was $36,000 of my late mothers estate jewelry which I could have sold, but she wanted my daughter to have it. It's scheduled to go to auction on May 17th. Now we currently only have about $500 in our combined checking accounts. I thought there was interest in my book, but that faded away. I'll be applying for emergency assistance from the state of New York on Monday. I'll take any financial assistance that can get. Someone once criticized me on Pinterest about not reading enough. I read and write about good vs evil and right now, that's all I have time for. My favorite books are the Bible and anything written by John le Carre.
